The World Matsubayashi-ryu (Shorin-ryu) Karatedo Association, headquartered in Okinawa, Japan, carries the organizational torch for orthodox Matsubayashi-ryu of the Nagamine lineage.
The Essence of Okinawan Karate-Do
Written by Shoshin Nagamine, this book outlines and details the eighteen kata and seven yakusoku kumite found within our system, as well as contains a section on kobudo and an in-depth look at the history of Okinawan karate. It is required reading for members of Shobu Karatedo, as well as any serious practitioner of Matsubayashi-ryu karatedo.
Matsubayashi Shorin-ryu of Little Tokyo
Art Ishii’s WMKA dojo in downtown Los Angeles’s historic Little Tokyo district. Ishii sensei is Shobu Karatedo’s senior advisor, and a direct student of the late Takayoshi Nagamine and Eihachi Ota.
